About Custom Maid

Custom Maid is the definition of modern residential house cleaning services. No longer is the industry represented by an individual working out of the trunk of a car with an old vacuum and a broom. We study the most effective techniques for cleaning. Our uniformed staff is continually trained on the latest industry updates and standards. The products we use are professional grade and environmentally friendly.

Our founder, Alison Palmer was the president of (The Association of Residential Cleaning Services International) for three years and served on the Board of Directors for nine years. ARCSI is the trade association for the residential cleaning industry and conduct educational meetings twice a year to stay up to date with the most modern techniques, supplies and equipment available to the industry.

We are a proud member of the Hampton Roads community. We give back to that community that has been so good to us in many ways. Custom Maid is a long- time partner with Cleaning for a Reason. This means that we provide free house cleaning to people who are undergoing treatment for cancer. Because of our efforts on behalf of Cleaning for a Reason, we won the Urban League of Hampton Roads Beacon of Hope Award.

We train our staff to clean according to the IICRC (The Institute for Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) standards for house cleaning technicians. This rigorous House Cleaning training is a three week process.

We are a group of women who have been cleaning houses since 1985 for clients in the Southside. In those 38 years we have done well over 400 thousand house cleanings. As you will see, we have honed our skills to the max. This means your home will totally sparkle when we perform our magic.

Alison founded Custom Maid in 1985. Served on board of directors of The Association of Residential Cleaning Services International from 2006 to 2015 (president for 3 years). Loves spending time with her grand-kids, movies, reading, knitting and politics on TV.
