Housecleaning Is a Personal Service. Meet Your Provider

It is entirely possible to hire a housecleaning service without first meeting a representative of the company.  Many cleaners even offer a “book it now” feature on their website.  This by-passes the estimate process and goes straight to giving you a firm price right on your cell phone in seconds.  You merely answer a few basic questions like how many bedrooms and bathrooms you have and how many square feet there are in your home.  But do they know that the fragile vase on your mantle is worth several thousand dollars.

Some companies actually give a firm estimate on the phone after asking pretty much the same questions as “book it now”.  Do they know that your 4 year old daughter is very allergic to scents?

You can totally save time and use these modern innovations.  However, someone is going to be in your home week after week.   You should meet an actual person and have a personal conversation with them.  How else will you know you can trust them to care properly for your precious belongings and your even more precious family?

A Proper Estimate Should Take Place in Your Home

When you hire someone to clean your home, you are forming a very personal relationship.  Meet with a representative of the company in the place where the work will be done.  That way a cleaning professional can walk through your home with you.  They will point out exactly what tasks they will be doing.  They will let you know what things are not part of routine service (like climbing ladders etc.)  You will be able to let them know just what you expect from your cleaning service.

Once the walk through is finished,  you and the representative can sit down and go over general information. You will talk about how the cleaners will get into your home and how payment will be made.  At this point you might want to ask for a certificate of insurance.  This will assure you that the service is bonded and insured.  At the end of the estimate, your representative will give you a firm price based on your home and the frequency you choose for cleaning.  You will have begun to create a relationship with your representative.

At Custom Maid we always do in-home estimates for clients who want ongoing service.  We want to be seen by our clients as people, not buttons on a phone. When Mrs. Jones calls, we know just who we are dealing with.  Over the years the relationship between your service and you will grow and deepen.  This is made possible when it begins on the right foot. You will feel secure in the knowledge that a reliable, dependable person is on the other end of the phone to handle all of your needs and concerns.

Call Custom Maid at 499-8568 and either Janet or Susan will be happy to talk you through the entire process.

Why and how to clean my washing machine Did you know that your washing machine can collect dirt and harbor bacteria and fungus? There is a thin film created by soap residue, minerals and chemicals from detergent. This can cause a clog in the inner workings of your machine, your water won't be as hot and the film also traps odors. The tiny crevices in the drum and gaskets can collect mildew and bacteria from your clothes. They can also harbor fungus. If you have a top loader here are some steps to follow when cleaning : Wipe interior seals around the door with all purpose cleaner Remove debris around filter or drain Use 1 cup of white vinegar with 1/2 cup baking soda then run a cycle on heat If you have a front loader here are some tips to follow when cleaning: Have a small bowl or towel ready to catch any excess water Remove the filter from the small door on the front panel of the machine Shake over trash can and rinse out. Use 1/2 cup baking soda and 3 cups white vinegar to scrub inside the drum and rubber gaskets You can use washing machine cleaner which can be purchased on line if you prefer Remove the fluids dispenser to clean each tray with disinfecting wipes Wipe out the area inside where the dispenser is located with the wipes If you have a "clean cycle" run the cycle, otherwise run the largest load setting on hot We hope this has been a quick and helpful guide for cleaning your washing machine . Remember, your washer should always smell fresh not like mildew.
