When you have a product or service you need, I urge you to think local. At least compare prices and apples to apples services before making your spending decision. When you hire a plumber put dollars back into the local economy. You support more jobs for Virginians. When you need a haircut or to have your carpets cleaned, think local and don’t hire some national firm.
I love the personal feel I get when I patronize a local business. It feels good when I walk in the door and am greeted by name. I own a small business in Virginia Beach and am proud to say that we employ almost thirty local people. That’s thirty more jobs feeding the economy. That’s thirty more families with a better standard of living because the mom works at a job where she still has time for the kids. I’m proud of our record both with employees and satisfied clients.
Depending on what item or service you need, consider touching base with our Better Business Bureau (http://www .bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/house-cleaning/custom-maid-ltd-in-virginia-beach-va -2419). They maintain reports on most businesses that operate in Hampton Roads. You will know where the business is located, how long they have been in business and whether or not they have complaints against them. If it comes down to a national company or a local one, I urge you to choose local.
Sure, a national company still employs people from our community and some of the dollars you spend will go back into our local economy, but more of your dollars return to the headquarters of that business wherever that may be.
Do you have a favorite local business? Mine is all the merchants at the Farmers’ Market, Young Vets Brewing Company www.yvbc.com , and of course, Custom Maid!
