Farmers Market is a Gathering Place
The Virginia Beach Farmers Market is a wonderful place to visit almost any time of year. You can browse the booths overflowing with fresh, mostly local produce. You will find a fabulous bakery called Season’s Best Bakery. If you go there on a weekend morning you may be lucky enough to snag a couple of pieces of sweet potato monkey bread fresh from the oven. Yum!
2nd Annual Apple Extravaganza
On Saturday, September 27th the Farmers Market is putting on the 2nd Annual Apple Extravaganza and Craft Show. You know anything that purports to be an extravaganza must be awesome! There will be a craft show of over 35 local crafters with all manner of ideas for the upcoming holidays. You can indulge in an apple pie eating contest, learn all about bees from the Tidewater Beekeepers Association. Live music will make the Farmers Market come alive. You will find food vendors that are a cut above typical festival food such as wood fired pizza made on site by Pizza Bella Vista. If you haven’t discovered their food truck in and around Virginia Beach before now, it’s worth the visit to the market. There will also be lobster rolls and roasted corn on the cob. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is!
I’m one of the crafters that will be displaying our handmade wares. I will have handcrafted afghans which make great Christmas presents and Christmas trees made out of buttons. Come and see me in booth 3.
For the kids there will be face painting, pony rides and inflatables. You might want to finish off the day with an ice cream cone from Gilly’s Creamery.
