In this day and age with both husband and wife working, hiring a cleaning service is no longer a luxury. Following weekend after weekend of arguing who is going to tidy up the house, or letting things pile up until you have spare time (hah!) you and your partner decide that something has to give and you decide to hire someone else to do the housework.
I have spent three weeks outlining some very concrete reasons why a service just makes more sense. There are some other things to take into consideration. The relationship you have with your cleaner should definitely be a business relationship, not a friendship. So hiring your neighbor’s daughter or your niece or even the lady who cleans for your friend is probably not a great idea. You want to be able to easily instruct the person about what you want done. You don’t want to be uncomfortable and worried about hurting someone’s feelings. When you hire a service, you simply call the manager at the office and explain the situation. No one will cry, no one will feel bad. The relationship with a business is clearly a business relationship, no feelings involved.
Be sure that you understand that when someone cleans your home, they will see and touch all of your stuff. It is smart to put away anything that is particularly fragile or precarious. If it would devastate you if that vase from Aunt Marilyn were broken then don’t leave it out. It is also smart to have valuables out of sight regardless of whether the cleaner is a professional or not.
And one more thing. When you hire an individual and she calls in sick, you are out of luck. When you hire a professional service, they will always have a back up person to send.
If you read all four parts of this series, you will be able to make an educated decision when it’s time to give the housecleaning duties over to someone else. I know you’ll make the right decision! To start the ball rolling, call Custom Maid at 499-8568 and our helpful office staff will take good care of you.
