You may find it hard to believe, but Spring is around the corner. That means the spring cleaning bug will bite you sooner or later. You will feel the need to have someone come in and wash woodwork, clean out the fridge, get the dust bunnies out from under the beds and sofas and scrub the floors. While all those tasks can easily be done by Custom Maid, organizing your closet is pretty much up to you.
It’s time to think about putting away the sweaters, long trousers, long sleeved shirts and boots. If you are lucky enough to have shelves in your closet, you can store shoes on them. Arrange them with the left shoe toe in and the right show toe out, they take up less room on the shelf than placing them side by side with both toes facing in. If there are no shelves or you use them for other things, use this tip to line up the shoes on the closet floor under the clothing.
If you have a mélange of hangers, your closet will become more organized if you invest in some inexpensive plastic hangers from Target or WalMart. Then you can get rid of the flimsy metal hangers you get from the dry cleaner. If you are into color coding, you can use a different color hanger for pants, tops, skirts and dresses. Or every family member can have his or her own color.
Use this opportunity to remove seldom used clothing from your closet. If it no longer fits, or you did not wear it this year, or it is worn but still usable, consider donating it. This will free up some space. It is a great feeling to get rid of some stuff. It feels as good as losing weight or solving a huge problem.
Take a long hard look at the linen closet as well. Do you have several sets of sheets for each bed, but only rotate the same two sets in and out? Maybe it’s time to donate sheets, old pillows, tattered blankets etc. A great local charity for bedding or coats is Blankets for the Homeless. www.BlanketsForTheHomeless.org And remember, Custom Maid is ready, willing and able to do all the cleaning involved in spring cleaning.
