Autumn is an invigorating time of year. There is so much to do now that the heat of summer has dissipated and clear, crisp, cool days and cooler nights have returned. Why stay inside and clean house yourself?
Autumn is a State of Mind and a Clean House
Autumn means Friday night football games and trees awash in color. It is the sound you make when you shuffle through crackling leaves. Fall means pumpkins, Jack-o-lanterns, and scary costumes. It is cornucopias filled with gourds and trips to the farmers market. I love putting away the shorts and tank tops and hauling out the corduroys, sweaters and long sleeved tops. I feel happier in the Fall. It is the time of year when I want to spend as much time out of doors as possible since I know the upcoming winter will give me cabin fever after a while.
And Autumn is a time of year when I want a really clean house. My home is the canvas that I use to paint the season. Wreaths made of pine cones and colorful leaves deck my walls. My spring and summer accessories in pastels have been packed away for next year. I want a clean house so I can begin to fill in the fall canvas. Yet I find that difficult to manage with so many other activities going on: football, soccer, and it’s a wonderful time of year to play 18 holes.
The Star of Autumn is Thanksgiving
I know that retailers are already (and have been since August) touting Christmas. I prefer to allow the Fall to unfold naturally: first the cool nights, then Halloween followed by my absolute favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, then the sparkle and glitz of Christmas.
So back to my original premise. With all there is to experience in the Fall why, oh why would you want to clean house yourself?
