It’s December, and my guess is that you are using your kitchen and specifically, your cutting board overtime!
As with wood, after each use, a good scrubbing with hot soapy water will remove most of the soil and bacteria. Acrylic and plastic provide plenty of nooks and crannies for germs to hide. Scrub with a nylon pad and use a circular motion or clean these cutting boards on the top shelf of the dishwasher and if your machine washes at a temperature of at least 165º, the bacteria will be killed.
Always store cutting boards vertically. Once they are cleaned and sanitized, stand them up. If you must store them horizontally, put something under the edge to lift it from the surface underneath it. Otherwise germs and mold could grow on the surfaces.
Take care of your cutting boards and they will always take care of you! Merry Christmas! Happy Baking!
