Another ubiquitous part of festivals is the food. There will be plenty of that on hand. The Kiwanis Club is presenting their Shrimp Feast on Thursday the 18th and you can feast at a barbecue tournament with prize money totaling $12,000. For those who like a good test of ability, you can participate in the Cornhole Tournament.

The Pungo Strawberry Festival has been a beloved tradition for 34 years. The intersection of Indian River Road and Princess Anne Road becomes a strawberry paradise. The event happens on Memorial Day weekend. Bring the whole family to enjoy a carnival atmosphere. True to its name, you will find all manner of strawberry concoctions from shortcake to ice cream and everything in between. This festival is a little more country. The last time I went, I saw a display of prize pigs and a demonstration of training police canine dogs.
This year, the good news is that these two festivals are on successive weekends so you can partake of both!
