Big Spring Festivals Coming to Chesapeake and Virginia Beach

Festivals for the Whole Family

Now that the weather has taken a final turn toward Summer, the Hampton Roads area is sprouting festivals.  First up is the Chesapeake Jubilee which takes place this coming weekend.  It kicks off on Thursday evening, May 18th and runs through Sunday the 21st.  As a backdrop for the entire festival, Amusements of America is setting up a gigantic carnival to delight the entire family with rides, games and more.  Of course, festivals are not complete without fireworks so the world famous Zambelli family is bringing their glorious light show to Chesapeake Park on Saturday the 20th.  Chesapeake VA, Chesapeake Virginia, Norfolk VA, Norfolk Virginia, Virginia Beach VA, Virginia Beach Virginia

Another ubiquitous part of festivals is the food.  There will be plenty of that on hand.  The Kiwanis Club is presenting their Shrimp Feast on Thursday the 18th and you can feast at a barbecue tournament with prize money totaling $12,000.   For those who like a good test of ability, you can participate in the Cornhole Tournament.

Another feature of many festivals is music.  A variety of bands, both local and national, will entertain the audience throughout the entire festival.

Make Plans to Attend the 34th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival

The Pungo Strawberry Festival has been a beloved tradition for 34 years.  The intersection of Indian River Road and Princess Anne Road becomes a strawberry paradise.  The event happens on Memorial Day weekend.  Bring the whole family to enjoy a carnival atmosphere.  True to its name, you will find all manner of strawberry concoctions from shortcake to ice cream and everything in between.  This festival is a little more country.  The last time I went, I saw a display of prize pigs and a demonstration of training police canine dogs.

This year, the good news is that these two festivals are on successive weekends so you can partake of both!

While you are out on the festival circuit, why not have Custom Maid handle your weekly or bi-weekly cleaning chores?  There are so many things for you to do during the summer, why clean?
